The Federation of Muslim Women in Nigeria says it has established no fewer than six functional hospitals currently providing medical services across the country.
Its National Ameerah, Hajiya Rafiat Idowu Sanni disclosed at it 38th pre-national conference briefing in Sokoto on Thursday.
Hajiya Sanni said the association founded 37 years ago on five cardinal objects of serving as mouth piece for women and children ,drive education , health humanitarian services and women and youth empowerment has it tentacles spread across 700 of the 774 local government councils in the country and the FCT.
She explained that the conference with the theme: ” Societal Reorientation- Islam as an Embodiment of Values for Growth Development and Morality”, was to further unite and strengthen the capacity of the association as well discuss burning issues in the lives of Muslims and Nigeria at large.
” We have chapters across the country with competent and committed executives at National, State, Zonal and LG levels home and abroad with a BOT Chaired by former Lagos state deputy governor, Alhaja Lateefah Modupeola Okunnu.”
On the conference, the National Ameerah who was flanked by other executives including Professor Sadiya Umar Bello , Dr. Sumayya Hamza, Hajiya Maimuna, Hajiya Muslimat, Hajiya Sami Raliat, Hajiya Zarah Maishsanu among others, disclosed that Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede would present the keynote address along side other presentations in addition to discussions by scholars.
” We are optimistic that the conference will generate positive results that will shape the country in the best form of higher pedestal of morality with the calibre of persons to drive the presentations “, She stressed.
The association top echelon however, thanked and commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and his wife, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar for their untiring support and contributions to the course of Islam and strength of FOMWAN.
” We specially thank the Sultan for scholarship assistance to the girl child to study medicine and his physical presence at FOMWAN conferences. This has always inspired our spirit of commitment to the course “, Ameerah Rafiat stated before the official commencement of the 4 day conference between 23rd and 26th November , 2023.
