Group Decries Escalation Of  Insecurity In Birnin Gwari

The Birnin Gwari Progressive Union(BEPU) has decried the escalation of banditry in the local government.

 

A press statement made available to the newsmen in the state, said that the recent rise in criminality in the area had had been affecting livelihood just as it had caused the death of many people in the area.

The statement signed by Pharm Jamila Sani, the chairperson of the group and dated 21- said that on the April 17, 2024 Ungwan Kamawa and Ungwan Danko of Kamawa Ward were attacked by suspected bandits which took the lives of about 23 victims in the area.

The statement further added that less than 24 hours, traders coming from the market where were attacked by bandits around mararaban Agero with subsequent lose of lives of four vigilante and the abduction of many.

The group further said that the community of Bagoma presently grappling with humanitarian crisis as women, children and the elderly who are displaced are seeking refuge from the crisis.

They commend the efforts of the security forces fighting the bandits in Birnin Gwari area for the effort they have been rendering to the people in the area as they acknowledged the efforts of both the Emir of Birnin Gwari, the state and federal governments as well as well meaning Nigerians for their efforts in helping to alleviate their sufferings.

They finally condole the Emir of Birnin Gwari Alhaji Zubair Jibrin Maigwari, the local and state governments as well as families that are affected by the menace of banditry in the area
