KADCCIMA AND RMRDC ORGANIZED A THREE DAY WORKSHOP FOR FARMERS

Kaduna Chamber Of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) incollaboration with Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has organized a three day workshop for farmers association with an intention on how to educate them on new ways post harvest management, Technology and value chain Financing.

 

The 3 – Day workshop and Exhibition on post Harvest Management / Technology and Value Chain Financing was held at the  Conference hall of Kaduna International trade and Investment centre, Rigachikun Kaduna.

 

At the workshop representative of minister of Agriculture Dr. Muhammed Mahmood Abubakar, who was represented by Dr. Alao Mitchell said federal Goverent under the leadership of president Muhammadu Buhari is actually happy with the way Nigerian farmers are working for the country to defend on their own to feed the nation and some countries of the world.

According to Alao Mitchell, storage, transportation to markets is very important to farmers in the country.

“Post Harvest management/ technology and Value chain Financing is what our farmers needed now, because something like Tomatoes actually need a new technology to add value to it”.

 

“Use of refrigeration can also help and we need a collaboration between government and private sector”.

At the ministry of Agriculture we have every thing that farmers needed because best hands are there working with the ministry.

 

Presenting a paper Dr. I C Olupe Deputy Director raw materials research and Development Council said  harvest management is something that our farmers needed, to know the time to harvest and how to harvest they farm for the benefit of all.

Said if you Know how to package it will be better so that when you take it to the market a farmer can get a good price because of the value addition.

 

Engneer Umar Faruq Sani, one of the participant of the workshop says,”People must know that there are some technology to be use in management and value addition to their farm produce”.

“Basically the problems of farmers is how to use the modern ways of farming”.

 

Some of the farmers that participates during workshop lamented that due to the issue of insecurity in the Land they are now facing so many challenges, even those rearing animals such as cattles are now started migrating to the cities, and “we are now buying what their animals are eating, which is a serious problem even to the country.

As matter of urgency we want Federal and state Government to look into such issues before it late.

 

“We equally thank all the organizers of this three day workshop because we benefit alot”, some of the participants.

The workshop was attended by both men and womens from different association of farmers.
