Sokoto state government has concluded arrangements on a Bill to be passed into law for the establishment of the Sokoto Community Guards Corps.
” We need to give the initiative a legal backing”, he pointed out.
The state Commissioner for Information, Sambo Bello Danchadi disclosed at the end of the state executive council meeting Wednesday night chaired by the Governor.
Danchadi said the initiative was informed by the security challenges fast threatening citizens in the state, north west , Nigeria and sub Saharan Africa.
According to Danchadi” the Bill will be forwarded to the state house of assembly for passage into law.
” The community guards is to brace the state’s commitment to securing its citizens , property and ensure peace. Is a model to be piloted in line with the Katsina state model already put in place .
” As you know , Sokoto state is also on the fringes of border lines facing security challenges . We need to give the initiative a legal backing hence a Bill is sponsored by the executive to that effect”, he explained.
Similarly, his Budget and Economic counterpart, Balarabe Musa Kadadi that a draft of the 2024 fiscal year budget frame work had been approved for onward presentation to the state assembly.
However, Kadadi who did not disclose the quantum of the approved proposal by the state executive council, said the draft was in inline with the National Chattered Accounting format.
He explained that the draft process respected and recognised the principles of consultations and inclusiveness with wider participation inorder to reflect the input of relevant stakeholders.
” It is a people oriented”, he stated.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy , Bashir Umaru Kwabo said the council approved a medium term expenditure frame work in compliance with the relevant section mod the 1999 Constitution as Amended.
Kwabo said ” all these are aimed at driving a beneficial financial trajectory for judicious management of the state resources for economic prosperity.”
