Residents of Fulani communities in Kwara state have been urged to support the state government efforts to prevent kidnapping,Cattle rustling and other criminal activities in the state.
The Chairman Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria ,Kwara state Chapter , Alhaji Bello Abubakar made the call while speaking at a security meeting of Fulani community leaders across the sixteen local government areas of the state held in Ilorin.
According to him the security challenges bedeviling parts of the country required the support of every one to win the war.
Alhaji Abubakar advised community leaders to ensure vigilance and report any suspicious movement in their areas to security agencies for prompt action.
The Fulani leader advised parents to educate their children to enable them live a quality life .
He appealed to the state government to establish Normadic schools to enable Fulani herders acquire quality education.
Alhaji Abubakar warned Fulani herders against night and under age grazing on farm land in the interest of peace.
He also urged the state government to provide water and other incentives in Fulani communities to make their lives better.
Alhaji Abubakar thanked the state government for supporting the people of Fulani communities with Palliatives to cushioned the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.
He however,advised Fulani herders to live in peace with one another .
In his remark on behalf of Fulani Monarchs in Kwara state ,the Sarkin Fulani of Edu local government,Alhaji Dogo Baluji said a forum should be put in place to educate the Fulani youths on the danger of getting involve in criminal activities.
In his comments during the security meeting,the Kwara state Secretary General of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Honourable Abdulazeez Muhammed said the programme was meant to brainstorm on the issue of security and welfare of Fulani herders in the state.
He advised Fulani to be their brothers keeper and avoid rancor that can lead to their incarceration.
He thanked governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazq for giving them the enabling environment to contribute to growth and development of the state.
In his address the Kwara state Chairman, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Usman Garba advised Fulani herders to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure peaceful coexistence in their communities.
In his comments the Commander of Vigilantees in Fulani communities, Abubakar Danmalam said the issue of security should not be left in the hands of security agencies alone.
He called for the collaboration of all stakeholders to ensure peace and security across the state.
Highlight of the event was the investiture of Alhaji Muhammadu Sauni as the Director General of Miyetti Allah in Kwara state.END
